We have been using activeCollab to manage our projects for months. This piece of software gives us the ability to assign tasks, create new projects, organize work flow, and mark milestones. ActiveCollab also gives our clients the ability to request new work, by assigning tasks to a member of our company.
Much like Basecamp, activeCollab provides email notifications of new messages, but doesn't support notifications of new tasks. We feel that this feature is much needed, in order to make it easier for our clients to create new "work orders", without having to send an additional email containing the same information.
We are releasing a hack that will enable email notifications of new tasks.
When creating a new task, a check box is now available that gives you the option to notify the assigned user of the task, via email.
When creating a new task list, a check box has been added to give you the option to notify "all" assigned users of their new tasks.
Instructions:
1. Download aC_Notify_New_Task.zip
2. Back-up your current aC files
3. Extract aC_Notify_New_Task.zip to your root aC directory, which will replace/create the necessary files.

Works for New Task List, not New Task
I definitely appreciate your contribution to activecollab. It works when adding a new task list, but not when adding a new task to an existing list. Any help on how to make it work would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to any updates to your mod.
worked at first, but now emails are not being sent
Like the subject says... I installed this on top of a freshly installed ActiveCollab, set up some projects and clients, and created a task list with some tasks. three tasks were assigned to specific people (all valid variants of my email address), and one was assigned to 'all'.
I received four notifications for the fourth task, and none for the other three tasks.
And now, any new tasks I create result in no notification being sent at all. I know the mail is moving, because AC's message notification works fine.
Any idea what could be going wrong here?
No Tick Box
Hi, Thanks for adding the email task hack, but I am not seeing a tick box when I go to create a new tack or even a new Task list. I followed the instructions above to install. What php file controlls the tick box (eg. TaskController.class.php).
Did you place messages in the php files showing where you hacked so i can track down the error.

Sorry, Typo
When I zipped the files, I created a folder called "tasks" under application->views.
This folder should be named task, not tasks. I've corrected the typo and update the download above.
You can simply move the files under application->views->tasks to application->views->task, or you can download again.
